Building high-performing engineering organisations across Europe.
Scaling engineering organisations from early-stage to 100+ across Europe. I work at the intersection of technical excellence, people leadership, and strategic product delivery.
I'm an engineering leader with 14+ years of experience transforming and scaling engineering organisations across Europe. At Tridonic, I took a globally fragmented, heavily outsourced engineering function and rebuilt it from the inside out — insourcing, unifying methodology and technology, and launching a commercial product from scratch — all without disrupting delivery.
Today that organisation runs as 10 autonomous product teams across Portugal, Austria, and Switzerland. My work sits at the intersection of technical strategy, organisational design, and operational rigour — turning complex, ambiguous engineering situations into focused, high-performing teams.
I'm always open to conversations with forward-thinking European companies building something meaningful — remote-first or hybrid.
Designing and growing distributed engineering teams across geographies. Building hiring pipelines, career frameworks, and the cultures that retain exceptional talent.
Translating business vision into engineering roadmaps. Defining architectural principles, platform decisions, and the technical bets that matter at scale.
Establishing the rituals, metrics, and feedback loops that turn engineering effort into consistent, predictable delivery at pace and quality.
Deep domain experience in connected products, industrial IoT, and smart city solutions — from embedded to cloud, from PoC to production at scale.
Integrating AI capabilities into engineering workflows and product surfaces. Building the organisational literacy and tooling to leverage AI with ROI discipline.
Codifying the principles, practices, and rituals that make engineering teams exceptional — from technical standards to psychological safety and continuous learning.
Three moments that shaped how I think about engineering leadership — each one a different problem, the same underlying discipline: clarity of vision, trust in people, and relentless focus on outcomes.
Inherited ~8 outsourced, fragmented engineering projects with inconsistent methodologies and stacks. Defined and executed a full insourcing strategy, unified the technology approach, and restructured into 10 autonomous product teams — zero disruption to ongoing delivery throughout.
Led the Porto engineering team in a cross-continental collaboration with Tridonic's Shenzhen R&D team to deliver ILIORA — a fully autonomous solar-powered outdoor lighting system with D4i-certified drivers, MPPT energy management, and smart city integration. First version to market in 6 months to validate demand. Now in miniaturisation phase for integrated hardware delivery.
When we pursued ISO 27001 certification, we achieved it in 6 months — roughly half the industry average. Not because we worked harder, but because the engineering processes, traceability, and operational discipline built during the transformation were already mature enough to pass. Certification was the evidence. The real story was what came before it.
Transformed a globally outsourced engineering function into a fully in-house organisation of 10 autonomous product teams across Portugal, Austria, and Switzerland — without a single disruption to ongoing delivery. Built the team from 2 to 100+, unified methodology and technology strategy, owned a €5M+ annual engineering budget, and delivered the first in-house commercial product (Nanobox, 2021).
Tripled unit funding by transforming the R&D model from proposal participation to direct execution across EU-funded programs. Led interdisciplinary HealthTech initiatives including regulated photonics systems for early cancer detection. Based in Brussels for 8 months; represented INOVA+ at the European Commission and coordinated with consortium partners across Europe. Acted as independent judge for European Commission innovation project proposals.
Led cross-functional health technology projects end-to-end. Architected full-stack systems (C#, Unity 3D, Web Services) for medical and therapeutic platforms, including an endoscopic diagnostic capsule and Parkinson's rehabilitation software.
Distributed systems engineering across telecom and financial services — mediation, billing, banking risk, and AI-based routing in high-reliability production environments.
